D'Feet Breast Cancer, Inc. is a grassroots volunteer non-profit 501 C3 formed in 2001. D'Feet partners with the Galveston County Health District, UTMB Galveston, Victory Breast Imaging and Women's Diagnostic Center, Mainland Medical Center,and The Jesse Tree to provide healthcare services to uninsured and underserved women of Galvston County ages 40-65. D'Feet provides free screening mammograms, free follow up care, community outreach, and breast health education programs in the Galveston County Schools.

Lending Library Project

Under the coordination of Turtle Clark and Dolly Warren, 20 sites have been identified to carry donated books, videos & DVDs on breast health. These books, videos & DVDs are available for checkout by anyone in need.

  • Helen Hall Library - League City
  • William Temple Foundation Library - Galveston
  • Mae Bruce Library - Santa Fe
  • Clear Lake Regional Hospital Mammography area
  • Office of Dr. Francoise Vandaele - League City
  • Maranatha Baptist Church Library - San Leon
  • Moore Public Library - Texas City
  • Mares Public Library - Dickinson
  • Mainland Medical Center - Radiology/Mammography area

Each library has been presented with a catalogue for this project listing all the books (including a brief review) and videos donated to date. DVDs of all the videos are available. Various means of publicity has been in play to encourage women to educate themselves & their families on breast cancer, the choices today and the treatments.

There is no other program like this, for all money raised here stays here in Galveston County and is used to fund the D'Feet Breast Cancer, Inc. free screening mammography and follow up care program for Galveston County women who qualify.
