D'Feet Breast Cancer, Inc. provides screenings to underserved and uninsured Galveston County women ages 40-64 and those at high risk for breast cancer.
Program Requirements:
Pre-screening to see if women are qualified under guidelines of the program. Women are given the choice of Van site, or clinic/hospital site, and date for the screening mammogram.
This is a free program for the screening mammogram and any necessary follow up care. Free transportation can be arranged if the woman needs this service.
D'Feet Breast Cancer, Inc. has a contract with the Galveston County Health District. The GCHD personnel who represent the D'Feet program screen the women. Trained Health District personnel do the clinical breast exams. The personnel schedule the qualified women using the services of Victory Breast Diagnostics & Women's Imaging, Mainland Medical Center, or UTMB and the UTMB "Oleander Van"
The woman has a choice of the time, date and location according to the scheduling available. Mammography sites are set up 6 months in advance. It is the woman's responsibility to get to her scheduled appointment on time or to reschedule if she is unable to go.
Once a woman is screened for this program, she qualifies for yearly mammograms unless any of her screening criteria changes. The Galveston County Health District monitors these changes.
